New to our Podcast?
We’ve compiled a little guide for those who are new to our podcast! Read on below to find out the types of episode we have on our podcast, as well as a starting point for some episodes to dip into! We hope you enjoy!
Types of Episodes
We have three “types” of episode on our podcast, Full Review, Wildcard and Mini-sode. Typically we aim for 80% of the series to be full review episodes, with a sprinkling of Wildcard and mini-sodes between.
For all the books we plan on reading in our latest series, please see our reading schedule.
Full Review
Episodes where we review the book in full. Aka. a “Normal Episode”
Wildcard
Episodes where we discuss a genre/collection of books, typically with friends of the podcast A true wildcard of a topic!
Mini-sode
Short, 15min episodes about a book we have previously reviewed as part of a “Full Review”
Our Book Review Method
We like to take a lighthearted and fun approach to reading and reviewing book on our podcast. We discuss the general themes and plot points of the books (we aren’t spoiler free), but if there are major spoilers we do try to flag in advance!
We ask a couple of silly questions about the books – always ending up in a funny chat! Some of the questions include:
- Who is the sole human in the muppets adaptation of this book?
- Who get’s the f-word drop? (and when?)
- Who do we want to fight?
- Which character do we want to go and get a cup of tea with?
At the end of every episode, we round of with a cat-rating of the book. This is distinct from our own personal views of the book, as we like to have a think of what our darling dear cat would thinkof the book. So far, we think she’d really like Temeraire (Dragons = Cats), plus The Old Kingdom Trilogy (features a cat).
